I whipped up another quick project bag using Shannon’s tutorial at the end of the Christmas break, because I never seem to have enough bags for all of the projects I’m working on. The fabric is from my mum’s stash- isn’t that bottom print so pretty?

And what better to go in a new project bag than a new project? I needed something really simple to work on after so many weeks of intense Christmas knitting, so I cast on a pair of plain vanilla socks using some leftover yarn from a Christmas gift (pictures of the gift to come later!). I added a couple of grey stripes at the top for interest.

What’s your favourite project bag pattern or shop? I’m always on the lookout for new ones!

An exciting thing happened over the Christmas holidays… my roommate got a cat! She is adorable and affectionate and generally perfect. She doesn’t have a name yet, but we’ve been trying a few different ones over the last week to see what suits her best.

I think as a little photo project for 2015, I’m going to post a black and white photo of her every week, usually on Sunday. Perhaps by next week, she’ll have a permanent name!

Do you have any photo or blogging projects for 2015?

This week I’m…

Knitting :: The last 2″ of my Itaka cardi… so much garter stitch! Almost there. I’m hoping to finish this sometime this week. I got my sister to try it on and I’m aiming for a slightly longer sweater than the pattern sample.

Reading :: Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo. This has been on my to-read list for forever, so when I saw it in the library I had to pick it up! So far it’s as good as everyone says. Lots of interesting discussion about social inequality and economic disparity and the lives of people who live in the undercity of Mumbai.

I hope your are all having a lovely week!

Gift-A-Long (pattern specials!)

Independent designers on Ravelry have been working really hard over the past week to pull together an awesome pre-holidays event! It’s perfect if you want to get some holiday knitting done, or just buy lovely indie patterns and win some awesome prizes!

You can see the whole list here, or visually on Pinterest (see the Ravelry group for the various board links). Additionally, there are a bunch of different KALs/ CALs which last from November 1st to December 31st. There are tons of great prizes (yarn, patterns, notions, and everything else you can think of)! WIP: Featherweight

I have a lot of projects on the go right now, but some of them I can’t share here just yet, either because they’re new designs or because they’re gifts for people who read this blog… but I do have a few non-secretive projects that I can post about.

First, my featherweight cardigan, which is coming along well despite the mind-boggling amount of stockinette stitch in laceweight. I’m about 1″ into the ribbing at the bottom, and then I have the sleeves and button bands/ collar left. Please expect completion of this project sometime in 2032.

I’ve also been working on some dishcloths as a gift for my grandmother for Christmas (I make her these every year, as some of you might recall). I have one more to make and then these will be my first Christmas FO of the year. (62 days…)

Grey days

It has been grey and raining all day today… I actually don’t mind, so long as it’s not more ice and snow! I am still working on my Winding Way socks. Hopefully I will finish the first one tonight- I am about halfway done the foot. These are a pretty quick knit but since I’ve been at home and it’s exam time, my knitting time has been limited. Although it was rainy today, it was a beautiful day yesterday and we had Sherman’s brothers come over and play- they are getting so big. Here’s some of that cuteness:
