As long-time readers might remember, every year for Christmas, I make my grandmother a set of dishcloths. I realized last week that I hadn’t made this year’s set yet, so after a quick trip to the store, I sat down yesterday afternoon to get started. Christmas movies, PJs, tea, and the Christmas tree made 4 dishcloths quick work. Now I just need to wrap them and that’s one more thing checked off the list! Still lots of other knitting happening here, but lots I can’t share just yet.

How is your Christmas knitting coming along?

I have a lot of projects on the go right now, but some of them I can’t share here just yet, either because they’re new designs or because they’re gifts for people who read this blog… but I do have a few non-secretive projects that I can post about.

First, my featherweight cardigan, which is coming along well despite the mind-boggling amount of stockinette stitch in laceweight. I’m about 1″ into the ribbing at the bottom, and then I have the sleeves and button bands/ collar left. Please expect completion of this project sometime in 2032.

I’ve also been working on some dishcloths as a gift for my grandmother for Christmas (I make her these every year, as some of you might recall). I have one more to make and then these will be my first Christmas FO of the year. (62 days…)

Getting started…

That’s right, I’ve gotten started on my Christmas knitting! Every year, I make a generously long list of all of the things I plan to make for everyone I know for Christmas, and I’m always very optimistic as to what I can actually finish. The problem is that I want to make things for so many people… immediate and extended family, school friends, family friends, neighbours… you get the idea. Needless to say, I’ve yet to have a year where I actually make everything on the list… maybe this year will be that year? At least I’ve got an early start.

For my last Ravellenics project (if you want to see all of my Ravellenics projects, I’ll be posting a recap tomorrow), I made a pair of dishcloths for my grandmother. She loves hand-knit dishcloths and she says she really liked the waffle textured ones that I made last year, so I made her something similar.

The yarn is Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in Off White and the pattern is Double Bump Dishcloth (free!). (Rav Link)

Have a great Monday!
